The single most important thing you need to buy is... wait for it...
I've been using them for years, not only for shopping, but also for transporting large amounts of random stuff. My 3 kids' snow-clothes & boots all fit in one of these bags.
OH, and $1 soft-serve ice cream cones, and if you join their rewards program, you get a free cup of coffee with every meal, or maybe every visit, and the cafeteria food is actually decent, and you guessed it, reasonably priced.
I love IKEA! Always find something there whether it is a big item or small. And, I love eating there. The employees are typically helpful and friendly. The return and pick up departments are quite slow though.
IKEA also carries a number of Scandinavian foods & drinks, which you cannot find elsewhere, or at least not for the low prices they're asking.
I needed a TV stand for a new TV with guests expected the next day for Thanksgiving. The stand we decided on online was sold out despite what it said online. The IKEA person on the floor looked up the item for me and said more were expected the next day. As I wandered while I thought about what to do, the IKEA guy said my item was on the dock so he was going to see but not to get my hopes up. As luck had it, he found it and was able to get it out of what I imagine was pallets and pallets of boxes. It was super nice and really made my holiday. IKEA can seem impersonal and warehouse-y, but the people are exceptional. I've noticed this on numerous occasions. It's a hike to get there but I wouldn't go anywhere else.
If you are debating whether or not to go to IKEA, suspend that debate, and get thee to IKEA. Sure, they have low-cost furniture, and most of it is decent quality, while some of it is press-board with the structural integrity of dried feces, just make sure you treat it gingerly, and it might last a very long time. Be extra careful whilst assembling.
Children's plates, cups & bowls for low prices, but good quality
So i* live about an hour 15 minutes away and traveling with an infant is something not so easy. We intended on going and buying about 1200 worth of stuff that we had in a cart so we were prepared to get in and out. Not only did we check stock online but to made sure we called and a rep confirmed everything was available. We get to the drawer portion of the bed set and none on the shelf. At this point i*had already had 2 carts worth filled . It takes 10 minutes to find someone willing to help they look in the system and shows 9 in stock. At this point I’m pretty frustrated I️ traveled this far and won’t be able to get everything. While I’m trying to get this resolved someone takes my carts in the isle the empty stock was in and now no more cart with stuff and no one knows where it went. The rep said he reached out to managers who were in a meeting and weren’t will to give me free shipping for my drawers because of the run around I’ve been getting. You just lost a repeat customer and someone who is big in the real estate industry. No more recommendations or business coming your way. They care nothing about customer service the way they talk to customers and treat them.
I have only been to a couple IKEA's over my lifetime but this is till one of the best and largest. The parking garage locate under the store is one of the best features that is really not utilized by most. I never understand why people park outside when it is pouring rain or snowing. You can exit your car and be protected the entire time. The lines at the registers an be long most times of the day but staff are always helpful and friendly.
NO, less than a single lonesome dollar.
That, however, is NOT the best reason to go. Their home-goods selection is amazing. They have more styles of just lamps & lighting solutions than you could shake Gandalf's staff at. (Read that as a very big stick)
Giant shopping bags. Forget the crappy little plastic bags from the supermarket, these bad-boys are made of the same thing as a tarp (tarpaulin), with 4 nylon strap handles (2 sets, 1 short set, & 1 long). And you can carry a 5-year-old around in one of these things. And guess what you pay for one of the biggest, most durable shopping bags ever manufactured, $10? $5? $2?
